Sandy Hook Tragedy
We are all deeply saddened from the horrific tragedy, which occurred at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. A single gunman took the lives of 20 precious children and 6 adults.
The Frenchtown Police Department and Principal Dave Bailey work very closely together in conducting active shooter drills, lockdown drills and evacuation drills. As you can see, I have an Officer posted at the school in the mornings and afternoons. I am also at the school in the morning. Myself and Principal Dave Bailey have been approached by parents with some questions and concerns. If you should have any questions, please ask or call my office at 908-996-2341.

Frenchtown Angels – Hurricane Sandy
On the back of our Dodge Durango is a phrase “Silverton Strong”; this is to honor all that they did.
Dawn Taylor of Country Chic put together this donation drive and did a fabulous job. The donation drop-off was at 40 Bridge Street, property owner John Mathieu donated this space. I would like to thank all who contributed to this worthy cause.

FRENCHTOWN — An ad hoc organization called Frenchtown Angels (or F-town Angels) has been collecting supplies for victims of Hurricane Sandy and today, Nov. 19, they sent two truckloads to the Toms River area.
The goods, loaded into two rented box trucks, included cleaning supplies, 180 cases of bottled water, shovels, rakes, socks, underwear, “tons of baby stuff,” and much more.
When asked, Dawn Taylor, owner of Country Chic store in Frenchtown, said she made up the name Frenchtown Angels to emphasize that “it’s not about Country Chic; it’s about everybody, she said. “It’s amazing how people have donated.” One truckload of supplies was collected previously and sent to Staten Island.
Frenchtown Police Chief Al Kurylka also played a major role in the effort, Taylor said. Police set aside a parking space on Bridge Street as a drop-off zone for people donating supplies, and used a mobile electronic sign board to draw attention to the campaign.
Today’s shipment went to the Silverton firehouse, which is a staging area for Toms River relief, said Kurylka. The drivers were Taylor’s son Steve, and Skip Serridge of Flemington.
